It's all fun until someone gets run over by the car.

Kids, don't try this at home. Leave riding the whip to the professionals...and the extremely stupid. Ajumma and her childhood friend spent a night ghost riding before it was ever known as ghost riding. In fact we looked exactly like the photo above! You live and learn. I'd like to say we were professionals, but we were more like "extremely stupid." Watch here to see what happens when riding the whip goes really bad.

Shiny Toy Guns

British pop, 80s pop, and modern day electronica come careening together in Shiny Toy Guns. STG sounds like the ultimate indy band, but their last album We Are Pilots was actually released by Universal Records. Favorite songs from this California group include You Are the One, Don't Cry Out, and Chemisty of a Car Crash. Hear snipets from STG here.

I want to add that Jared Leto would look really good in this band.

Bossy Bear by David Horovitz

Once there was a man named David Horvath. From David's infinite wisdom sprang forth the greatest cartoon character EVER, named Bossy Bear. Ajumma bought Bossy Bear's new book while in Los Angeles. Reading it was like looking into a freaking mirror.

Hello from California!

Greetings from a boba cafe in Orange County, California! It's a cool, but lovely 50 degrees here today. Yesterday was clearer in Southern California than I had ever seen in 4 years. The Hollywood sign was actually visible from my old town of Whittier and the San Gabriel Foothills could be seen from Huntington Beach. I tucked a little HB sand into my wallet so I could carry Cali with me wherever I go. Ajumma's better half is getting annoyed by the drivers and my bad directions, but it's nothing a few games of Foosball can't cure. Thank goodness this cafe has a Foosball table. Game on!

Angry sisters unite!

Kim, the Angry Little Asian girl, is the product of UC Berkely grad, Lela Lee. Kim's sassy. She's outspoken. She's hilarious. (Basically, she's Korean American.) Kim has recently been joined by friends to create the "Angry Little Girls" calendar, which I saw in a bookstore, and is a hoot.

I especially like the nursery rhyme by Kim's mother.

Jack and Jill, by Kim's angry mom:

Jack and Jill, they go uphill.

Jack, he fall down on the ground.

And Jill, too. She fall down.

He get up, Jack go home.

He no care Jill.

He leab her there on hill.

SO NO TRUST BOY!!!

Funny is hot, but too much hair is not.

If a guy is funny enough, people will overlook the fact he's not too bright or good looking. Andy Samberg, from Saturday Night Live, is blessed with being both funny and handsome. You rarely see defined jaws like his outside of superhero cartoon drawings. Too bad Andy refuses to lose his triangular hairdo. SNL is unbearable with the exception of Samberg's digital shorts. I present to you the best of the best.

"Dear Sister" featuring Shia LaBeouf, here.
(This spoof is funny, though gun violence is baaaaad.)

"I Ran" featuring Adam Levine from Maroon 5, here.
(Human rights violations are bad, too.)

Edison Chen says no to Dragonball movie

Stephen Chow, star and director of hits Shaolin Soccer and
Kung-fu Hustle, apparently tried to snag Edison Chen for a role in the upcoming live-action Dragonball movie. Chen, 27, a Hong Kong actor, singer, and entrepeneur passed up Chow's offer choosing to film Jump with director Stephen Fung, instead. Dragonball presses forward with Emily Rossum, James Marsden, and Korean American actor Joon Park starring.

What does Edison need with a cheesy film like Dragonball, anyway? The boy already has his own action figure toy.

Razor Ramon is Hard Gay. "Hooooooo!"

Razor Ramon HG is "Hard Gay." This colorful comic is a fixture in Japan's wrestling circuit and television. Hard Gay, decked out in a black leather vest and hot pants, accosts and thrusts his way through a variety of situations with his signature cry, "Hooooo!" (Or as the Japanese say, "Fuuuuu!") Hard Gay is like Japan's answer to Borat, but with quicker and slyer wit than his Kazakh counterpart.

Watch Hard Gay celebrate Father's Day in Japan, here. Ajumma guarantees you will laugh out loud.

Wish you were at Waikiki?

Snow, cold, and grey skies of winter have you feeling down? Wish you were lounging on the shores of Waikiki? Me too! Now you can experience some of what we're missing by viewing Waikiki Beach's live beach cam. It's situated right across from the statue of legendary Hawaiian surfer, Duke Kahanamoku. Warning: what you see may make you feel revitalized or may cause you to feel more depressed. View the surf and turf here.

Duke, da' man.

"The Warlords" premieres in Beijing

China rolled out the red carpet for Jet Li and his co-stars at the premiere of his new martial arts period drama, "The Warlords," in Beijing on December 6. In what was the country's grandest movie premiere to date, guests were greeted by tradional drumming and watched the stars let off fireworks to celebrate the movie's release.

"The Warlords," starring Li, Andy Lau, and hearthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro follows the story of three blood brothers in the Qing dynasty who turn against one another on their paths toward power. See one of the movie's trailers, here!

Jackie and Jet-Together On Screen

Oh HELL no! There are so many things wrong with this trailer I don't know where to begin. First, why couldn't it be an Asian American kid who transports back to China? The studio obviously cast this kid because they couldn't get Shia LaBeouf. Second, why does the kid get to kiss the girl? Because he's white and white guys always get the Asian girl! Directors cut all romantic scenes between Jet Li and Aaliyah their in "Romeo Must Die" (2000). It's a complete double standard, folks. Jet and Jackie starring in the same film is supposed to be a cosmic aligning of the stars. This movie feels more like a slap in the face. Thank goodness we have Jet Li's other new film, "The Warlords" to tide us over.

New Harold and Kumar 2 poster

Korean ajumma are notoriously impatient and this one is no different! No one has heard a peep about "Harold and Kumar 2" since the movie's official website launched a few months ago. What gives? "Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" isn't coming out until May 2008 and that studio already released 5 posters. Well, behold HK2's new poster of Neil Patrick Harris atop a shimmering unicorn! You might have noticed that the Harold and Kumar 2 site now has two URLs: http://www.haroldandkumar2.com/ and http://www.whatwouldnphdo.com/

This is progress!

G.O.D. member joins "Dragonball" cast

Twenthieth Century Fox has confirmed that Joon-Hyung Park has been cast in the upcoming live action "Dragonball" movie as Yamcha (a.k.a. the guy who wears orange). Joon, a graduate of Cal State Long Beach and former member of the Korean mega-boyband G.O.D., will also star in the live action version of "Speed Racer," due out next May. And here I thought Joon was the least talented member of G.O.D. I told you I've been wrong about things before!

T-shirts of the week!

Ajumma has a love-hate relationship with vintage t-shirts and
t-shirts with witty sayings on them. Here are some funny ones that might make you snort through your nose:

I need a t-shirt that says, "Stick shift drivers make better lovers."

Shia on "Eagle Eye" set

I've come to this conclusion: women of all ages, ethniticies, and lifestyles love Shia LaBeouf. It's a little spooky. Shia's been filming "Eagle Eye," and been laying so since his November arrest. I've been experiencing Shia withdrawl, so here are some old pics from him on set. Thanks to Jared from JustJared.com for the pics!

What's Tevin up to?

Before Usher, Mario, or Chris Brown, there was a young talented R&B singer out of Texas named Tevin Campbell. He rocked Star Search in the '80s and made music with producer Quincy Jones. You'll likely remember Tevin's hit "Round & Round" which was written by Prince. After a few more hits under this belt, Tevin made his acting debut on TV shows "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and "Moesha." Then he seemed to take a vacation to Bermuda. The Bermuda Triangle, that is!

In July 1999, Campbell, then age 22, was arrested in Van Nuys for soliciting a lewd act from an undercover policeman outside an elementary school. He was ordered to attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings and an AIDS awareness class after pleading no contest to the charges. He was also fined $1,080 for the misdemeanor conviction stemming from his arrest. Campbell was ordered to return to court February 7 with proof that he has completed the drug rehabilitation and AIDS education requirements of his sentence. Regarding his sexuality, Campbell states that he's not homosexual or bisexual, he's just experimental. Ajumma says that's fine, but move your act a few blocks from the elementary school already!

So where is he these days? In 2005, Tevin returned to his musical roots with a part as Seedweed J. Stubs on Broadway in the musical, "Hairspray." In 2006 he was in studios laying down tracks with several producers, including Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. Fans still love Tevin and are eagerly awaiting his new album. One posted this message for Tevin online:

This message is for Tevin. Tevin, I love you. Don't let negativity stop you from progressing. As long as there is life, you can bounce back. Keep the faith..

Things aren't all bad for the man, here he is with Jessica Alba for goodness sake.

The Bad Plus in Minneapolis

The tour de force that is The Bad Plus rolls through Minneapolis, MN December 26-29. Expect several sold out shows at the Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant. Ajumma's favorite venue to watch The Bad Plus is Royce Hall at UCLA, but we can't be picky now, can we? For tickets, visit http://www.dakotacooks.com/

Scariest Man in Entertainment

I have officially been spooked. After decades of being enthralled with ghost movies and twisted tales of irony, my skin almost crawled off without me this weekend as I watched the Cohen Brother's newest film, "No Country for Old Men." Javier Bardem, best known for his roles in Spanish film and for his fling with Penelope Cruz, was insanely scary as the killer Anton Chigurh. Who knew an oxygen tank could be so terrifying? My fight or flight instincts kicked in about 4 times during the movie as I watched Bardem close in on Josh Brolin's character. If Christian Bale wants to know how a pyschopath is effectively protrayed, he should see Bardem at work in "No Country for Old Men."

On a lighter note, here is Javi partying it up with the ladies.

Kanye tappin' Japan

Kanye West's "Stronger" has been out for months and JUST NOW I got his reference to Isotoner in his song. It's hard not to love a man who includes Isotoners and Datsuns in his raps! West has been tapping the Land of the Rising Sun for inspiration, lately. His collaboration with Japanese pop artist Murakami Takashi led to album art for West's "Graduation" and an upcoming jewelry line, featuring huge Manga-style necklace pendants and rare colored diamonds.

West also paid tribute to JPOP culture in his "Stronger" video, which included clips from the iconic story, "Akira." See the video, here.

Murakami currently has a retrospective show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. To see his wildly wonderful work, visit his link at MOCA's website.

Hey lady, when are you due?

The comment, "you're ugly" isn't commonly heard, though it may be true. Thus, I believe the biggest diss one can give a woman is to ask her when she's due, when she's not even pregnant. My friends and coworkers have been asked this question and recounted the experience in horrid detail. These women range in size from 14 to 4. The best story I heard is when an amusement park operator stopped a ride and made a heavyset woman get off while shouting, "Pregnant women aren't allowed on this ride!" She grabbed him by his shirt collar and said never to assume a woman is pregnant unless he can see the crowning of the baby's head.

You've probably heard that blah blah blah actress Jessica Alba is knocked up by her boyfriend who she recently dumped...and with whom she recently reconciled. People are chatting up the internet with talk about her baby bump. If that's a baby bump, then I look 9 months pregnant right this very moment! If that's a baby bump, every woman I know looks like they're ready to burst. Sometimes I wonder whether young starlets are getting pregnant to stay in the limelight. Regardless, now if someone asks Jessica Alba when she's due, she has no reason to run home crying.

Pink Dreams of Animal Sanctuary

Starpulse.com 10/17/07

Pink threw animal activist Ingrid Newkirk a party at her Hollywood home at the weekend - and announced dreams of turning the place into a rescue shelter for stray animals. People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) president Newkirk was looking for a place to launch her new book, Let's Have A Dog Party: 20 Tailwagging Celebrations To Share With Your Best Friend, and animal lover Pink jumped at the chance to play hostess. The longtime PETA supporter invited Hollywood dog lovers Kevin Nealon (vegetarian) and Bill Maher to bring their own pooches to the bash, and PlanetGossip.eonline.com reports more than 30 pets ran around as guests mingled.

Turning her home over to the dogs for the day helped Pink visualise her dream. She said, "This backyard was made for this. I want an animal sanctuary. That's my dream. I want acres and acres of free dogs, pigs, cows and horses." Pink and husband Carey Hart already have four dogs of their own - including two the pop superstar rescued from a junkyard. She reveals, "There were seven of them... I wanted all seven, but Carey said no! So, we got two."

So my dream and Pink's dream are the same? She even wants to help cows and pigs, like me. Wow. I've been looking for an excuse to put Carey Hart in this blog, so here we go...

Hank Hill butt alert!

Korean actor, Jo In-sung, sports the classic Korean ass--F L A T. In some circles his non-rear would be called a "Hank Hill butt." This refers to "King of the Hill" character Hank Hill, who was born with a small, flat ass and needed prosthetic butt pads to sit for long periods and cut the lawn on his riding mower.

'Mind if I call you Steadman?'

Yowza! Oprah and Denzel sure make an attractive couple. The two stepped out at "The Great Debaters" movie premiere held on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Denzel stars in "The Great Debaters," based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College in Texas. In 1935, Tolson inspired students to form the school’s first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in the national championship. Forest Whitaker also stars.

Michael Jackson on the cover of "Jet Magazine"

Michael on this month's cover of "Jet Magazine" and Michael 28 years ago. Damn! Well, at least he looks geniunely happy.
