Where have all the good men gone?

Song Seung-hun is a 31 year-old Korean actor most famous for his role alongside Wonbin in the 2001 TV drama, Autumn in my Heart. He's never really been my cup of tea, but I've always appreciated his glowing skin and perfect eyebrows. For years SSH evaded his mandatory service with the Korean Army by claiming heavy diabetes and high blood pressure. However, at age 28, the South Korean government told SSH "the buck stops here" and forced him to serve for two years.

As like with Wonbin, years in the army gave SSH a nice short coif and some muscle tone.

Fans rejoiced when SSH was discharged from the army, last year. Apparently the first thing is he did is grow out his hair and stop eating. Skinny tie. Skinny Song Seung-hun.

And now this! Below are new shots of Song Seung-hun for In-Style magazine. I think I'll avoid Korea until the lady-like hair fad on men goes away.

Everybody get crunky!

David Horvath, father of Uglydolls, is currently blogging his way through Seoul. It's a real treat to read his observations about The Land of the Morning Calm. Last week, David stopped through E-Mart, ate at Popeye's, and picked up a KicKer chocolate bar, not to be confused with a KitKat bar.

This got me thinking about my favorite sweets from my time in Korea. My all time #1 will always be Crunky candy bar. Crunky is similar to Nestle's Crunch bar, but with less milk and more cocoa. I'd buy six Crunkys, pack them in my carry-on as gifts for friends, and then proceed to eat half of them on the flight home. Oops. I also liked Mr. Big chocolate bar, which goes by the motto, "When you're this big, they call you Mister."

Finally, a girl can't spend almost two years in Korea and live without donuts. Since Ajumma's town was just a bump on the road, Korean-style donuts were usually on the docket with occasional stops at Dunkin's when in Seoul. Korean donuts don't have holes and are slightly greasier than American style donuts. And it was always a crapshoot whether I'd find bits of cooked corn inside.

See what David's been up to in Korea, check out his blog, here.

Protect Thy iPod

And do it in style while you're at it.

Domo-kun, rock out shimashou!

Can't quite imagine bringing this one to the gym.

Is there a hole for the earplugs?

This one is cute. But can you access the dial
and see the screen? Do I ask too much?

Bring this baby with you to church on Sunday.
It will get you through the sermon.

Black animals overlooked for adoption

United States animal shelters report that black animals are less likely to be adopted than their more colorful counterparts. Big black dogs are least likely to find new homes. The problem has become so pronounced that rescues are emerging especially for black animals. Why are people avoiding adopting black animals? Because people are idiots! Ajumma has been volunteering with shelter animals for 4 years and my 3 favorite shelter dogs all happened to be big and black, including Dora, who's pictured above. If anyone you know is considering pet adoption, please encourage that person to keep an open heart and mind.

Calculate your Body Mass Index

Examining ones BMI is like reading ones horoscope on a Chinese restaurant placemat. It's so vague and fails to take into many additional considerations. Though you can probably tell by looking in the mirror, find out if you're overweight by calculating your BMI here. Above is a chart of American BMIs compared to those of our global neighbors. You can see a larger version of the chart here. Keep in mind that anything under 18.5 is considered underweight, so what the heck is going on in Japan?

Shia slumming it with Ashton

During a drunken moment Shia LaBeouf must have agreed to be seen in public with Ashton Kutcher. The duo was spotted at an LA Lakers game, last weekend.

Ajumma's Black and Blue List is back!

Neither the fur on her coat or the hair on her head really belongs to comic Monique. And that's just sad. When Monique looks in the mirror, you know she pretends she's Niecy Nash.

Eva Longoria is a D-lister with a capital "D." She offends all my senses. Hopefully the next scalp stripped for a coat will be her own.

Guillermo Del Toro's "El Orfanato"

Some things are inescapably creepy: asylums, clowns, wheelchairs, and child ghosts. More than one of these things appear in Guillermo Del Toro's new movie, El Orfanato (The Orphanage). El Orfanato revolves around a woman who grew up in a children's orphanage and buys the property as an adult, to live in with her family. BAD MOVE, LADY! See El Orfanato's spooky trailer, here. Or, if you're impatient like me, read the movie spoiler.

"K to the J to the I..."

Invited to a costume party, but out of ideas? Black wig, drab grey suit (with Nehru collar), and some oversized plastic-rimmed glasses and POOF, you're Kim Jong-Il. Recently North Korea began filming video footage depicting their nation's scientific prowess, but it never quite got off the ground. See their video outtakes, here.

Clones Vol. 8: Rumer and Adam...again

Seriously. Does Rumer Willis not have friends? Is there no one to tell her she is the spitting image of Adam Brody whenever she wears a beanie or shades?
