I'm seriously addicted to "Breaking Bad"

"You need to stop cooking meth, go home, and repair things with your wife!" Such is my yelling while watching the AMC series Breaking Bad.  Now filming its 5th and final season, Breaking Bad is about a terminally ill high school Chemistry teacher named Walter White, and his former student, who cook and sell Crystal Meth.  It's about more than cooking meth; Breaking Bad is about insane raging violence, heart aching fractures in once loving relationships, utter desperation, and greed. Did I mention it's also extremely funny?  I've just begun the first episodes of Season 2.  I used to like Bryan Cranston's character Walter White, even after he committed his first murder.  Now I'm not so sure.  And I'm starting to feel protective of Walt's mouthy partner Jesse, which makes me feel kind of gross, yo.

Breaking Bad character Tio Hector can't speak, but can ring a bell for a yes or no.  Tio almost gave me a heart attack in Season 2 in the most intense television I've seen in years.

Yoga: happy times, sexy times

Fresh Air recently interviewed William Broad, author of the new book The Science of Yoga, about the benefits and risks of yoga.  Broad explained yoga injuries may include such things as torn ligaments and joint pain.  When it comes to benefits, however, yoga is found to increase relaxation and lower heart rates.  According to Broad, research has shown the age-old Indian breathing and stretching techniques can even lead to a rise in sex hormones.  A study in India of married couples who took up yoga showed "men have better erections.  Women feel more emotional closeness with partners."  That makes me chuckle.  Someone please show me the studies where men felt more emotionally connected to their partners during sex.

Bale and Jolie (it's about time)

Why have Christian Bale and Angelina Jolie, who have both appeared in numerous films since the 1990s, never made a movie together? I used to joke that Bale's wife probably asked him not to film with the famous man eater. But really, both actors are drawn to intense characters, and both Bale and Jolie enjoy physical roles. I'd like to see them in a thriller filled with betrayal, deception, and stunning international backdrops. Fingers crossed for 2012.
