Ajumma's Craving: Budae Jjigae

With the temperates dropping and the days getting shorter, there is one dish on my mind. Behold the beautiful dish of Budae Jjigae (BOO-day JJEE-gay)! This Korean spicy soup contains a mixture of chili pepper paste, ground chilis, kim chi, green onion, tofu, spam, hotdogs, and if you're really fly, ramen noodles! Budae Jjiae means "military base soup" in Korean, as its origins are from Korean civilians who used rations from the American military during the Korean war. I admit that I would have run screaming from Budae Jjigae if someone tried to make it eat in America. However, it is ridiculously tasty and will warm your belly on a cool winter night. If you're ever around a K-Town or traveling in Seoul, step into a Budae Jjigae restaurant and fire up your burners!
