Black animals overlooked for adoption

United States animal shelters report that black animals are less likely to be adopted than their more colorful counterparts. Big black dogs are least likely to find new homes. The problem has become so pronounced that rescues are emerging especially for black animals. Why are people avoiding adopting black animals? Because people are idiots! Ajumma has been volunteering with shelter animals for 4 years and my 3 favorite shelter dogs all happened to be big and black, including Dora, who's pictured above. If anyone you know is considering pet adoption, please encourage that person to keep an open heart and mind.
