You are what you eat
If you see only one movie in 2009, it should be Food Inc. Food Inc. lifts the veil on the agriculture and meat industries in the United States, and shows viewers how a few corporations now control them. I know Food Inc. will change lives with its simple message of self-empowerment.

"I learned everything from Bruce Lee."

You, Me, and the Bourgeoisie
Here I am with all the pleasures of the first world
Laid out before me who am I to breakdown?
Everyday I wake up, I choose love
I choose light
I choose light
And I try, it's too easy just to fall apart
Oh my baby don't be so distressed
We're done with politesse
It's time to be so brutally honest about
The way we know we long for something fine
When we pine for higher ceilings
And bourgeois happy feelings
And here we are in the center of the first world
Laid out before us, who are we to break down?
Everyday we wake up
We choose love
We choose light
And we try, it's too easy just to fall apart
Plastic bottles
Imported water
Cars we drive wherever we want to
Clothes we buy it's sweatshop labor
Drugs from corporate enablers
We're not living the good life'
Cause we're fighting the good fight
You and me just trying to get it right
Love can free us from all excess
From our deepest debts
Cause when our hearts are full we need much less
Yea I know we long for something fine
When we pine for higher ceilings
And bourgeois happy feelings
Everyday we wake up
We choose love
We choose light
And we try, it's too easy just to fall apart

Clones Vol. 14: Jenny Shimizu and Russell Wong
A Whiter Shade of Pale
All the talk is about Jake Shimabukuro these days. After watching a few of Jake's videos I quickly realized that seeing someone get down on the ukulele is not my thing. Sungha Jung, on the other hand, I can handle.
Is that a crutch in your hand or are you just happy to see me?

Pro surfer Nathan Fletcher has a 12-inch titanium rod in his hip and leg after a busting his femur along the North Shore in January. Of his injury, Fletcher said, "Honestly, it's the best thing that ever happened to me because it made me appreciate what I have in surfing." And Ajumma says if one is spending months in recovery, Hawaii's a good place to do it.

Here we have the famous Portuguese footballer.

The metallic shorts. The diamond earring. The hairless tanned legs and blinding white shoes! Cristiano Ronaldo spent time in Los Angeles last summer recovering from an ankle surgery.

The Magic and Tragic Year of My Broken Thumb

Wanted: Someone who speaks Korean

If you speak fluent Korean and are willing to (anonymously) call my favorite restaurant to find out whether the new ajumma they've hired are on temporary visas and are going home soon, I'd really appreciate it. My husband is sick of his 오징어 볶음 being all messed up. This situation has me thinking about my lack of skills in Korean and how few negative things I am able to say other than, "This is not spicy squid," and "Would you please be quiet?" These two expressions would get me banned from the restaurant.
Hugh Jackman visited Seoul this week and made a public appearance with Daniel Henney. Daniel is taller than Hugh, which is surprising. But can the handsome American kick as high as the Australian powerhouse who puts even the Rockettes to shame? I think not.
Lastly, Ajumma watched First Sunday this week and it made me cry. More specifically, Tracy Morgan made me cry. I think the world is ending.

Asians shouldn't be allowed near animals. Period.

Happy Monday
Interviewers ask Daniel Henney the same boring questions over and over. Here's what people really want to know:
1. What kind of projects are in the works for you?
2. Are you planning on leaving Asia to work soley in the US?
3. What is your favorite Korean dish?
4. Do you feel that you paved the way for Dennis O'Neil?
5. What was it like to work alongside Hugh "High Kicks" Jackman on X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
6. As a child of an adoptee and in your roles in My Name is Kim Sam Soon and Father you brought exposure of adoption to mainstream Korea. Do you think adoption is viewed differently in Korea now, versus when you first arrived in the country? How do you think Korea might progress towards more internal adoptions?
